Last post of the year! Yay! I am writing this about one week ahead of time, since I’ll be home with my parents, and hopefully in a food coma after having enjoyed my mom’s excellent cooking.
The last card project and video of 2015 is also me saying goodbye to The Alley Way Stamps. I joined the team this summer, and in a few days Alison will close down the store for good. You still have until 31 December to grab the remaining stamp sets at a great discount.
I want to take the opportunity to thank Alison for inviting me into the Design Team. It’s been fun, it’s been an honor, and it’s been a great experience working with The Alley Way Stamps designs.
Since my best friend requested a set of a cards for all occasions, I used The Alley Way Stamps “Blast Off” for the little rocket and then a German sentiment from Create A Smile which says “You’ll be missed here”. I think it also perfectly describes how we all will feel about Alison and her company, who had become such a great part of the crafting community.
On this card, I was especially delighted about two aspects: first, that my Brother Scan ’n Cut worked perfectly on my colored little rocket (since it has a very solid outline, it would have worked great on just the stamped image as well, I think), and second that the watercolor background worked out just as I had wanted. Sometimes, there’s more luck than skill involved, I tell ya!
If you look for more videos on how to use the inexpensive Stabilo Markers, which are comparable to Distress Markers, have a look at my collection of posts here. You can use them without water or with water, directly to paper, or pick the color up from an acrylic block – there are so many options and the markers are so much fun once you get the hang.
To finish my card off, I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment, and also added some Perfect Pearls to the background. Jennifer McGuire pioneered that technique (at least I saw it there first) where you dab some of the powder onto the distressed background and then rub it to make it shine. Such a great effect with very little effort.
Thanks for stopping by today and throughout the entire year. Your comments, positive feedback, and encouragement mean the world to me and I can’t thank you enough.
Huge hugs to all of you! Have some wonderful holidays, and happy 2016! See you on the flip side!
