Good day, crafters! Today’s project is a CASE of one of my favorite crafters – the wonderful Debbie Hughes from the UK. I absolutely adore her card making style: clean, simple, and wonderful color choices every single time.
A while ago, this card caught my attention: the white on white, with just minimal colorful accents simply took my breath away. I find that very daring, and would never have attempted it myself for fear of losing the design in all this white space. But of course, Debbie rocked it and I just had to give this a go myself.
I think the most time was spent on figuring out which sentiments would fit on which speech bubble – that all happened off-camera, as to not waste your time. But believe me, it certainly took me about 10 minutes to plan the layout, it certainly did not spring whole from my mind (I wish!). For a technique like this, I personally would also recommend using strong card stock (yes, grab the good one) because it will increase the quality of your card, especially with all these die cuts.
In retrospect, I could have been even braver and stamped all the sentiments in black and only relied the colorful embellishments, but I’m just too chicken for that. That, and I simply copied everything Debbie did – can’t go wrong there 🙂
The little heart is a die cut which I coated generously with glossy accents for shine and dimension. The red drops are actually clear Droplets by Pretty Pink Posh. As with clear gems or pearls, you can use alcohol markers to color them into any color you need. In my case, I grabbed a red Copic marker and turned the clear droplets red. Voila!
Of course I couldn’t help but add a few Stardust dots throughout the design; it’s an addiction I certainly don’t plan on fighting 🙂 The sentiments are German and spell out “Best Wishes”, “Congratulations”, “Three Cheers”, and “Birthday Greetings”.
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed my CASEing project. Cheers!
