Another week, another challenge at Colour Me…! and today we get to use two colors I normally wouldn’t have put together:
I struggled with this color combo for quite a while and then had the epiphany of creating a gradient, going from the blue hue to the orange hue, on one big solid stamp.
The main trick to make this work is to gently dab off some of the excess darker color with a baby wipe or paper towel. By dabbing it off or reapplying some of the brighter color, you can make sure you will not have harsh lines where the colors meet, but instead have a real gradient. If you get color onto your lighter ink pad, just wipe it off on a sheet of paper.
The effect is pretty awesome, considering it didn’t take any skills at all to do that. Just how I like it 🙂
Since this technique is so incredibly easy, I went for an entire card set. They are great to give away as gifts or to sell, and it took no time to do it. I mixed up the sentiments so there would a variety of greetings for different occasions.
Since I wanted to keep the cards CAS as to not take away from the main attraction (the gradient), I only used a few pearls to embellish it. If you don’t have pearls in the right color, pick a white one and color it in with your alcohol markers or sharpies.
In order to complete the set, I also stamped a few envelopes with the same technique and image to complement the card set. I think it’s always super neat to have envelopes which match the cards.
I hope this gives you some ideas on how to use color combos on large solid stamps. See ya over at Colour Me…!
