Hi crafters, and happy Saturday to you! Today’s card is a project I made for my dad’s birthday. He turned 82 years old one week ago and when I was pondering what kind of cards to make for him, my eyes fell on the super cute “You Gnome Me” stamp set by My Favorite Things. So, here’s a video for you showing you some coloring with colored pencils:
As I’ve mentioned in the video, I didn’t have the perfect colors for skin tones, so I worked with what I had. Also, the Prismacolor pencils are wax-based and I found that they tend to mute stamped lines when you color over those. In that case, I simply use a black pen (permanent color ones are the best) to draw back in the details.
The sentiment is from a German stamp set and says “For Your Birthday” and on the inside I stamped the equivalent of “All the Best”. I might have also added a gift card for my dad for his favorite DIY store (if the Gnome is already busy with a shovel, you can imagine my dad running around and doing stuff around the house so such a gift card might come in handy 🙂 ).
I know that with all the layers and embellishments the card is not actually male in style, but as expected my dad was happier about the gesture than about the card itself. He didn’t even realize I had done it myself 🙂 Story of my life.
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend! Let me know what you think!
