Tadaaaaaa! Happy new year everyone! Hope you made it safe and sound to 2015 and I hope you are ready to craft! (I sound like that announcer in a boxing ring, don’t I??).
I decided to easy into the 2015 challenges with the Challenge Up Your Life #5 Kraft Card Stock challenge. It’s been nudging itself to my attention for the past week and I finally gave in. Mostly, though, because I suddenly realized that Perfect Pearls would work lovely on kraft card stock. If you want to see how to use them in action, come by tomorrow for a video and a brand new card, too!
Today, I have this beauty for you. I stamped the Butterfly and the roses – both from Altenew – in white pigment ink. Since that ink stays wet, it gave me just enough time to gently coat the images with different colors of Perfect Pearls. The butterfly has the white and plum color, the roses Mandarin and gold, the leaves Kiwi. After I set the pearls with hairspray (so they won’t smudge – the water mist method doesn’t work for me), I added another layer of white stamping onto the roses and leaves to give them more dimension and interest.
Looking at my card, I decided it wasn’t done just yet. I coated a few wood veneer stars in Versamark, then dipped them into gold embossing powder. Bam! Gold stars! Since they looked a little lost, I added a few gold embossed dots with a Simon Says Stamp set. And then I trimmed off about 1/4″ off the bottom edge and stamped a stripe pattern on the inside of the card to add a modern touch. Granted, the card won’t stand straight now, but hey, it looks awesome 😉
I thought I had missed the deadline, but the Simon Says Anything Goes challenge is still open, so I’m submitting my card there.
Hope you enjoyed this little gem and don’t forget to come back in the next few days – I have tons of cards and videos lined up for you. Cheers!
