What had originally started as a one layer card became stencil and embossing paste galore… but I just couldn’t help myself. I used my new stash of Simon Says Stamp “Lots of Dots” stamps to fill in the butterfly shape, but it was a bit too flat for my taste to just stamp the sentiment underneath it. So I broke out my Memory Box stencil and Dreamweaver embossing paste and got to work:
This time, I put on the embossing paste rather thickly because I wanted lots of structure around the butterfly. I also used the stencil at an angle to make sure I got the most out of the distressed border. Since I had die cut the butterfly shape out of a piece of card stock earlier to create a mask into which I stamped, I still had the actual butterfly shape left over. I used that to mask off my stamped area so I wouldn’t get any embossing paste onto it.
I almost forgot what I had learned in my Online Card Class “Stenciled”, but before the embossing paste started to dry I remembered to pour some dry Distress stickles onto it to give it a really nice shimmer.
The sentiment is from my new Simon Says Stamp set “Sketchy Greeting” (I’m trying to use new goodies within a week of getting them and I managed to do that with this set, yay!).
I’m entering this card into the My Favorite Things Color Palette Challenge #2.
