My friend Keren has gotten me on the Gorjuss train a long time ago because I love to color up those girls. They are perfect if you want to practice your Copic/pencil/watercolor/etc. skills, and on a rainy day, what better thing to do than to work with colors?
I started out by creating a background with a stencil and Distress inks, then sprayed that background with a mix of Perfect Pearls and water, which adds a wonderful shimmer when you tilt the card in the light.
The top panel was die-cut with a die by My Favorite Things, and the accents you see are clear drops from Pretty Pink Posh, which are just perfect for this image.
The Gorjuss girl herself was stamped on Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock and then colored with my Polychromos pencils. As always, I worked in layers, slowly building up the colors and adding in the shading. If you are interested to learn more about coloring with pencils, I can wholeheartedly recommend Kit & Clowder’s classes, they taught me everything I know about coloring.
I’m super happy about how the umbrella and the clothes turned out, but as always I still struggle with hair. I can see the progress I made, but I’m not quite where I think I could be, so I try to challenge myself to color images with lots of hair more often to practice.
Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you got inspired!
