Hello crafters! I’m enjoying playing along with a few challenges at the moment, without having the overhead of editing videos and voice overs. So today’s post is yet another “card only” post, but I’m certain you don’t mind?
I’ve had this Waffle Flower stamp set for ages now, but never inked it up because I was struggling with which technique to use with the stamps. The current Waffle Flower challenge provided an inspiration photo which solved that problem for me: Blender Pen and Distress Markers it is!
I stamped the first flower and stem, then masked them off and stamped the second flower, using Archival Black. This ink works perfectly with watercolor and the Blender Pen without smearing. I took my Distress Markers directly to paper and then used the Blender Pen to spread the color and create the gradient. For the little dots, used Mama Elephant pigment ink.
A few sequins by Pretty Pink Posh add some sparkle – I used colors that match the challenge colors, but also added a few gold sequins. I just feel they go perfectly with the color scheme. I also wanted to add some shimmer with my Wink of Stella, but accidentally grabbed the white instead of the clear. Let’s just say the cursing that ensued sent my cat into hiding for ten minutes. ;( The white mutes colors and if the original colors wouldn’t have been intense, this could have ruined everything. Needless to say, I’ve now marked the white brush with red washi tape to prevent this from happening again.
I’m sending this card off to the following challenges:obviously, the current Waffle Flower challenge; INKspire Me #187 which has a fun sketch; Simon Says Anything Goes; Addicted To CAS “Distress” because I’m using Distress Markers to color; and last but not least Less Is More “This Makes Me Happy”: this card makes me happy because I finally managed to leave quite a bit of white space, which I usually struggle with, and the colors from the Waffle Flower challenge make me happy, too – they are springy, fresh, and promise an end to this winter – big smile on my face!
Thanks for stopping by! I wish you accident free crafting!
Update: I won the guest designer spot over at the Waffle Flower challenge, wohoo! So delighted, also about the stamp set I got as a prize. Can’t wait to show it to you for my Guest Designer project.
