Das ist mein 2. Post heute. Für meinen Artikel zur Stempelküche-Challenge, hier entlang.
Do you remember when you first saw a specific stamp set and you went: “Oh. My. Gawd.” The Wplus9 Paisley Patterns stamp set had that effect on me because, for the first time ever, I learned about the concept of “build up stamps”, stamped images that fit into another and create a more complex stamped image.
Considering the fact that this week’s Colour Me…! challenge gives us three colors to combine, this set seemed like a perfect fit to use.
I have to be honest and admit that I am a bit intimidated by the set – when used right, it’s breathtakingly awesome. I decided to go with a pattern today, and just mask off some space for the sentiment, so I could let the colors and the stamped images shine.
The trick is (and I’ve failed at this gloriously in the past) to leave enough white space. Even if the colors work together nicely, you don’t want to overload your card by stamping the images too close together. I actually experimented a bit before I started, trying to decide which color should be the outside color of the Paisleys, and the minty blue hue was perfect for holding everything together and also separating the images from another.
Of course I also stamped on the inside of the card. I forget sometimes, but it’s always so nice to open a card and see that the design has been carried over to the inside as well. Little details go a long way.
I mass-produced these cards. That means I stamped one image in one color across all the cards first, then moved on to the next part of the Paisley. It’s much faster if you don’t have to switch stamps and colors inbetween. And I also went and stamped some envelopes to complete the set; I just love to do that.
I hope that gives you some ideas on how to use this week’s challenge combo and I hope to see your creations over at Colour Me…!
