Have you told one of your favorite people recently that that they are amazing? If not, then it’s time 🙂
Today, my fellow Seven Hills Crafts design team members and I want to tell Tara and Rick that they are absolutely amazing! Within just a few short weeks (and spending all of their holidays working like crazy) Tara and Rick managed to get the formerly Make The Day Special Store transformed into the new Seven Hills Crafts website. That doesn’t just mean to flip a switch: all the precious crafty goodies we love so much have to be added to the store by hand – every. single. one! Tara and Rick have worked tirelessly to pull this off and reopen early this year, and they are continuing to work hard to enable all the shiny features in the new store that you will come to love. We, the Design Team, just want to say “thank you and hats off!” to Tara and Rick for the amazing work they have done!
For this card, I am using products by My Favorite Things. You might not recognize them in the background, but the basis for it were the Distressed Patterns stamps. I inked them up by adding colors with my ZIG Art & Graphic watercolor markers directly onto the stamp, huffing on the stamp to keep the color moist, and then stamping on my watercolor paper.
After I had the basic outline down, I used a wet brush to activate the watercolor and smooth it out. To intensify the pastel colors, I used some Stabilo markers which are more vibrant and intense. (The ZIG markers also come in intense colors, but I only have the set with the pastel colors) It depends entirely on your own taste how vibrant you get. You know me, I like strong contrast 🙂
I diecut the word amazing from black card stock which I had covered with Stick It double-sided adhesive sheets. After I peeled off the backing paper from the front, I added glitter to make the word shine. It also took away some of the deep rich black color, so I grabbed a black marker with a big tip (like a Sharpie or Edding) and gently went over the glittered word. That darkened it up again nicely.
Of course I had to add some dots for interest: the black dots and white dots were created with my gel pens, and the Stardust dots add additional glitter. I also sprayed the entire card with some Perfect Pearls mist for additional sparkle. To my surprise, it activated the marker that I had used on top of the glitter, but fortunately, since the background is messy already, it looks as if it was intended. 🙂
Hop on over to the rest of the Design Team to see what they have created. And if you are a happy Seven Hills Crafts / Make the Day Special customer, why not stop by the new SHC blog and leave a nice comment for Tara and Rick? I am sure they’d love to hear from you:
I’m sending this card off to the CAS-ology challenge “Adore” – for obvious reasons 🙂
