I appreciate all of you who take the time to leave a thoughtful comment. I read your feedback and try to answer where I can, helping out with questions or suggestions.
To prevent spam, all of the comments are moderated. If you have approved comments from the past, yours should show up right away in the future, but it’s not a perfect system, so I have to check and approve daily. If your comment contains a link, it will always be held for moderation.
Some users have started to add links to their comments in order to increase traffic to their own blogs. Now, I get that you want people to come over to you and see what you create, but my comment section is not your billboard.
You can add the link to your blog via the comment form – there’s a special field for that! – and if your comment is thoughtful and engaging, people will check your work out. I know I do.
But if you add your links to the actual comment (in the text section) in addition to that, I consider that rude and after moderating these comments for three years now, manually removing those “billboard links”, I am just deleting them now. This is my spare time being taken up by something that shouldn’t even be an issue in the first place.
The only exception are links to pages you are commenting for, for example if you come from a challenge blog where you are on the DT, or you are the representative for a brand that I use. In that case, I will approve those comments. Everything else will get deleted from now on.
Please, don’t misuse my blog or the blogs of other contributors to this community as your personal advertising space. It’s bad manners.
