I have to admit, it’s been quite a while since I created this card and I had to stop for a minute to recall how I had created the interesting background for it. It’s weird that I haven’t used it more often since then, since I really like the random patterns you can create with something as common as plastic wrap.
The tag is cut from watercolor paper, and I started out by using Distress ink on it. I created a blend from dark to light. Then I grabbed a piece of plastic wrap (the same stuff you use in your kitchen to wrap your sandwiches in or cover up a salad in the summer), and added liberal amounts of water to one side (not dripping wet, but more than just a little moist). I smashed that piece of wrap on the tag, and bunched it up. It looked really bad at first, but you just have to persist for a few minutes. Don’t let it dry completely, but give everything time to absorb into the paper – I did color my dragon in the meantime, so it was probably about 30 minutes.
Then you remove the wrap gently, and you are left with this amazing pattern. I foam mounted my dragon on top and sprinkled some clear drops on it for good measure and – voila!
