Hey guys! Happy new year to you and yours! I hope you all arrived safely and happily in 2018 – may the new year be a great one for you!
I want to start this year off with a fun and vibrant card featuring stamps by Stamping Bella. I am also going to be using my Copics on watercolor paper (check out the video for my thoughts on that, before leaving a comment telling me to never ever do that 😉 ).
If you haven’t done so yet, I think one of your new year’s resolutions should be to have just one ink for your coloring projects. For the first few years, I was constantly jumping between Memento, Versafine and Archival black inks, depending on the type of coloring I was going to do. But when I got my mittens on the My Favorite Things Licorice Hybrid Ink, my crafting life got so much easier: it’s the one and only ink I use now to stamp any images that need to be colored: the ink works great with Copics, watercolor, pencil blending solution…
Another tip I have for you if you want to make an image really stand out against a white/unicolor background: make sure it pops. Usually, that means venturing a bit out of your comfort zone by using dark colors for the shadows, but you can see just how much this paid off in this image, especially where the icing covers up the cake.
Oh, and the only other black ink I still use is Versafine Onyx black pigment ink. It’s my go-to ink for sentiments, as it gives me great coverage and a rich-black color that ensures that the sentiments look crips and strong.
Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you got inspired!
