Hi crafty friends! Today I want to inspire you to stretch your supplies. I sometimes think back to the first few months when I was crafting and didn’t have all those fancy supplies or many stamps and dies and had to stretch whatever I had to make it work. For this project, I am using the Rainy Days stamp set by Pretty Pink Posh which features different styles of umbrellas but I’m using them as a parachute.
This card is also a CASE of this card by Kim which I discovered on Pinterest. Even though her image actually is a parachute, I immediately thought of my umbrella stamps. They look the same, it’s just the context that would make them appear different. In my case, I simply didn’t stamp the handle of the umbrella (if that is not an option for you, just don’t ink up the handle or mask it off) and pow – parachute!
I decided on simple coloring, just adding a few dots with different shades of the same color for interest. This stamp set has matching dies, and usually I would have had my Brother Scan ’n Cut cut it for me, but it’s already packed for my move so I had to fussy cut it. It’s an easy enough shape so it’s not really a problem.
I used the Panda from Mama Elephant’s Pandamonium to hold on to the umbrella-chute, but you could use any critter or person you have at hand. I also stamped a few clouds in the background using My Favorite Things Sno Cone dye ink. It’s very light and so doesn’t distract at all. As a finishing touch, I added a few iridescent star sequins with my Glossy Accents adhesive.
Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you got inspired!
