Hello crafters! Today I’m back with my last post for Purple Onion Designs. As I announced yesterday, I’ll be stepping down from my DT’s come 2017—and I’ll be missing POD a lot. The gorgeous images were so much fun to color and I hope to create a few tutorials in the new year for you showcasing my favorite images. But for now, I’m ending my DT term with one of my absolute favorite stamps, Santa, and I colored him with pencils on kraft paper.
Of course, this is — as always — done in many layers. I think I did about 4-5 layers on this coloration and I used dark brown in the shadow areas of the red suit to make sure I got a lot of contrast (as you know, I love high contrasts).
As for the white parts, I used my Caran d’ache Luminance white pencil. I find it goes on smoother than the Polychromos and gives me less wax bloom than the Prismacolor, but please try whatever you have on hand. With enough patience, you can get each of those brands to appear bright white on kraft.
And to finish off the card I created some faux snow fall with my Sharpie marker. Has to be fake—there’s no snow anywhere here and I worry that we might be in for another non-white christmas. So, all of you who have snow to spare, please send it to Dresden, Germany, for 24 December (that’s when we Germans celebrate christmas). Much appreciated, thanks! 🙂
Thank you all for visiting today! I hope you got inspired and if you get really busy until the holidays, merry christmas (or happy holidays) to all of you!
