Hi guys, today I have a blog post for you informing you of some changes. At the end of this year, I will step down from all of my Design Teams. I want to express my deep and sincere gratitude to the ladies who run those teams: Tara at Seven Hills Crafts, Michele at CAS-ual Fridays, Paulina at Pretty Pink Posh, and Michele at Purple Onion Designs—they have been nothing short of spectacular and supportive. Their generosity was incredible, and I’ve had a ton of fun working with them.
But, especially in this last year, and in the one before, too, I increasingly had to spend my time doing design team projects exclusively without the opportunity to explore some new techniques or companies that caught my eye. That is by no means the fault of the DTs, but my own in taking on too many responsibilities. I stopped having fun with my creative work—it might not have shown, but I dreaded to go into the craft room. Creating a card (with all the prep work that went into it), taking pictures and editing them, cutting a movie and finalizing it, writing a blog post and putting everything together takes between 4-8 hours per project. As you can imagine, when you are committed to deliver 25-40 projects a month, every month, it stops being a hobby and turns into a full time job. If you already have a full time job, it becomes a chore.
It was a very tough decision to stop my DT work—I have become friends with the women who lead the teams, and for a long time I felt like I was letting them down, which made me postpone my decision again and again.
But I had to realize that I was letting myself down, too. I was just going through the motions, becoming increasingly frustrated, and that didn’t serve anyone, least of all me who started this hobby to unwind and relax, not sit through the nights with trouble focusing on my real work in the morning. So, no more DT work for me come 2017. I might guest here and there in the future if invited, but I am no longer on a regular posting schedule.
For now, I will have to spend a lot more time doing my real life work—there are some exciting events ahead of us there (finally) which will take up almost all of my time. I’ll be crafting when I feel like it, and finally be able to focus on techniques I’ve been dying to try for almost two years now, and on improving my coloring skills because that’s where my passion really is.
I do have some stuff which I created over a year ago but never got around to share because I was too busy, so I’ll put that online throughout the first months of 2017, and I’ll share new projects when I have the time. I hope you guys will stick with me nonetheless. If you stay a subscriber to my blog or YouTube channel, you’ll get updates automatically when I share a new project.
Cheers, and thanks for all of your support!
