Hello crafters! I’m back again this week for Purple Onion Designs to celebrate the “Snow Day” release and today my spotlight is on Skylar the owl and Wilson the bear. These cuties are busy building a snowman and I created a magical scene for them.
My battery ran out while recording, but I think you guys got the gist of it. I used my Copic and Shinhan markers to color in the two critters and mounted them against a glittery backdrop. I first cut a scene into my panel using the Birch Tree die by Simon Says Stamp, which is just so versatile. You can use it all year round, and I was so happy to grab it when it was in stock.
The glittery background was created using the Glimmer Paste by Tonic Studios. They kindly sent me a ton of their products, including a large assortment of their Glimmer Paste. They come in different colors, and they are a bit more liquid than normal embossing paste, but not fluid. Just a bit smoother. And it looks so yummy, like sugar frosting, I was tempted to lick it when I opened my first tub 😀 It goes on easily on card stock and you can spread it with a palette knife across your surface.
Of course, I have some color samples for you which I scanned in and which you can download for reference or when you consider which colors to buy. I love it because the paste itself is tinted in the color and in addition has glitter in matching color. Much easier than creating all of that myself with, and I can see a tub going a long way!
As for Skylar and Wilson, I fuzzy cut them, added some snow marker to the snow ball that Wilson is holding and then heat set it to make it dimensional. I foam mounted both on my forest panel which I then foam mounted in turn on my card base. Done! 🙂
I’m sending this card off to the following challenges: Addicted To Stamps and More “Holiday”.
