Booooooo! No, don’t run off! I have great news for you: Purple Onion Designs has released new amazingly adorable stamps designed by Stacey Yacula! I will be featuring the new stamps in my upcoming projects, and today I want to show you this funny owl dressed up as Dracula. In addition, I am showing you how to mount your unmounted rubber stamps on your MISTI without damaging it. The article where I learned about the procedure can be found here.
As you can see, I am currently in the mood for framing my images “passepartout” style (I blame it on Karin Akesdotter and her wonderful card here), which means using one or more panels with different sized openings. I used the Stitched Ovals by Pretty Pink Posh here, and this guides the eye directly into the center towards the owl.
For some subtle interest I added a few images of sweets from the Sweet Shop set (from a previous Purple Onion Designs release) in Simon Says Stamp Fog ink, which is very light and therefore perfect to create a soft pattern on white card stock. I mounted the panel with the larger oval with foam onto the panel with the smaller window and then glued it to the card base.
I tried to add as much detail as I could to the wings of the owl, but I have to admit that I struggle when trying that with Copics in small spaces; I can do better with pencils, but I think it turned out alright. I was torn on whether to make the background purple, black, or orange, but since I already had dark colors on the owl, I decided to go with an orange background and I feel it makes the owl pop perfectly!
Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you got inspired and that you check out the new Purple Onion Designs stamps – they are so cute and as always, they are available as single stamps so you can grab exactly the images you want.
Coupon for Kit and Clowder & Grande Prize
I have an in-depth review of the classes I took here, if you want to check that out first.
Use the code julia10 to get 10% off when you purchase a class at Kit and Clower. The coupon is valid until and throughout October 31. You can apply this coupon to all full coloring classes (“Hair and Skin”, “Clothes”, “Perfecting Pencils”, and many many more), but not towards the Create And Learn monthly subscription. If you are a Create and Learn subscriber already and want to purchase previous monthly classes, you can use the coupon for those, though.
As a Grande Prize Alyce will be giving away a full coloring class for free to one person who leaves comments on my little coloring series for Halloween (part 1, part 2, part 3). If you have already purchased a class with the coupon, you can get a full refund for your purchase, so no reason to hold off! The winner will be announced here November 1.
Just because I feel some of you don’t realize this, I am going to repeat this: You can use the coupon ALREADY to buy a class! Should you win the Grand Prize, you can either get another class or a refund for the one you already purchased. Don’t hold back 🙂
