Hello crafters! Today is my second entry into the My Favorite Things Superstar challenge! And I also wanted to show you how you can color on glitter safely and easily without using your Copic markers. And the result? A beautiful step you don’t step you don’t sparkly card with a lots of color!
As you can see, for this technique and using my Stabilo markers. They are not alcohol markers, there are more comparable to distress markers. Yet they color on glitter quite nicely and because they are so cheap, I am not worried about damaging their nibs. In the past, I have used Copic markers with glitter, but ended up damaging their nibs. Therefore, I much prefer to use my cheaper markers now.
As I mentioned in the video, the ink remains wet for quite some time. Remember, you put down the double-sided adhesive onto the card base, that means the ink cannot seep into the paper but sits on top of that adhesive. Depending on where you live, give it at least half an hour or longer to dry properly and do not smudge it with your hand while coloring. The ink will also feather away a little bit after a while. You will not see the effect immediately, but it will spread a little bit beyond the area that you have colored. Keep that in mind while working, and maybe leave a tiny area white inside of the image so the ink can spread up against the stamped line and not beyond it.
To retain the focus on the colored image, I surrounded it with a frame that I had diecut with the Jumbo Peekaboo die by My Favorite Things. Apart from that, I left the card white to not distract from the central piece.
I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and learn something new! This card is now going off to the My Favorite Things Superstar challenge and I’ll be back with another project tomorrow. Cheers!
