A happy hello to you all! Today I have a very clean and simple projects featuring stamps by Purple Onion Designs. I know you all usually think of critter stamps, but I wanted to showcase some other motifs as well. And after doing a lot of scene cards that required quite a few stamps, today I will be using only two stamps: an image and a sentiment.
Even though I used the lanterns by themselves, you can of course use them in scenes with the popular Stacey Yakula critters – the possibilities are endless! For today’s card, I wanted to invoke the feeling of a summer party in the early evening with the sky turning dark and laughter in the air. In order to ensure that I had a perfect soft gradient into blue, I used watercolor paper on which Distress Inks work just perfectly.
For the shimmer effect, I used Pearlescent watercolors, but you could use regular colors and just mix some Perfect Pearls into the water that you use, or you could spray your entire project with Perfect Pearls or use a shimmer pen like the Wink Of Stella. The shimmer effect is subtle, but when you tilt the card in the light, it jumps out at you.
For additional sparkle I added some drops from an older gold glitz spray. You could create those yourself with golden perfect pearls and only little water, too.
Overall, I was also very pleased how the card was enhanced by the texture of my Torchon watercolor paper (Ranger watercolor paper etc. will do the trick too). Watercolor paper has a rough surface and visible texture. It adds a lot to the finish of the entire card, especially CAS projects and is one of my favorite tricks to “enhance” a card.
