Admittedly, Candy Canes are not a traditional German christmas candy, but I really think they should be (don’t tell my dentist!). Mainly, though, because they are pretty. I’m a sucker for stripes (pun intended) and I relished in the opportunity to create a very clean and simple card that mostly shines because of that simple pattern, using supplies from the Stamp of Approval box “Candy Cane Lane” which is still available today!
One of the techniques I keep forgetting about is creating gradients with stamping inks. It’s easy enough to do with distress inks, but if you have different shades of the same color in an ink that is great for stamping, you can create a gradient, too. And it will give your card that little extra touch, something the recipient might not be able to articulate, but it will look very professional.
Of course, you know me and my obsession with glitter, so I had to add a thin strip of double-sided adhesive and pour some glitter on to that, too. I feel it adds just the right amount of festivity to this otherwise very clean card. Naturally, I also had to include some sequins by Pretty Pink Posh. I mean, how couldn’t I?
The stamps come with the matching dies, so it’s no problem at all to die-cut the shapes. They are very basic, though, so you can easily fussy cut them too. One of the best thing about this box are the sentiments, though. I love how different font styles and families are mixed together for a very festive, but clean look.
Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you got inspired!
