Chirpy greetings, crafters! I finally got around to use my Bird Crazy stamp and die set from Tim Holtz – and it’s currently on SALE at Simon Says Stamp, almost half off! I had gotten them ages ago and the supplies were super sad because I never showed them any love. To make up for that, I decided to create a super happy card:
I started out by creating a colored gradient on the bottom third of my card base. I used a variety of Distress Inks in – say it with me – the order of the color wheel. That ensures you don’t end up with a weird color when you blend. As you can see, it looks very natural and harmonious.
Next, I stamped my images with MFT Licorice Hybrid ink, which is fantastic for every kind of coloring medium. I am using it with Copics, watercolor, and colored pencils with a blending medium. Never have been let down with this ink, which has become my go to black for coloring projects. The bird itself was colored with my ZIG Art Pens, which are a watercolor medium. If you are unsure how to get that rainbow effect, check out my video here to learn about that.
Thanks to the dies in the Bird Crazy die set, you can cut out the bird precisely. I was really impressed by the precision of the die – look at how close to the stamped line it cut, and how thin those legs are and the little feather on the top of his head! These dies are definitely worth the investment! The balloons were from the add-on stamp set and I didn’t have those dies, so I had my Scan and Cut cut them out, and then I traced the outline with a black pen.
I hope this card brings some smiles to you today, wherever you are. Have a wonderful day! I’m sending this card off to Time Out “Masculine” (because the bird is a guy, and guys like happy colors too!) and Simon Says Stamp “Add some shimmer” (because … SPARKLE!).
Also, you guys have 1 day left to enter the Rainbow Challenge over at Pretty Pink Posh! And there are gift certificates up for grabs! So head over there and enter until tomorrow night!
