Hi, crafty friends! Today I have a card for you with LOTS of white space (yes, I did it!) but I still managed to sneak in quite a few colorful accents and hint at dimension. Check out how I did it!
I love flowers, and these My Favorite Things stamps are just gorgeous and so much fun to color up. But I also wanted a very clean and simple card design – so I decided to make the flowers the supporting cast instead of the lead:
One neat trick to make the florals appear to me much “more” (in terms of numbers, volume) is to have them peek out from underneath a die-cut border – and the Reverse Confetti edge dies are just a great transition. By having the florals peek out from under that border, it looks like there’s a million of them hidden underneath the panel, when indeed there are … none 🙂
I decided to add some highlights with my white gel pen. Of course, it enhances the “whimsy” look; if you are going more for an elegant style, skip the dots. And of course I had to sneak in some sequins by Pretty Pink Posh – I picked colors that would blend nicely with the colors I used for the flowers, so it’s a neat surprise for the recipient to find them on the card.
I have an extensive comparison of the My Favorite Things Dye ink vs Hybrid ink in terms of using it for techniques like today’s (coloring with Copics) and also watercolor and pencils. You can find it today on the Seven Hills Crafts blog.
Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you got inspired!
