Very Vintage Florals – Use Your Old Stamp Sets Again

February 6, 2016

Hello crafty friends, today I am using an oldie but goodie set by Wplus9 called “Very Vintage Florals”. I know we always look to what’s new and exciting in our favorite stores, but it’s good to remember some of the older sets that we used to cherish and love. This is one that is just timeless and can be used for modern, fun, or elegant styles.

Simple Greeting Card

I started out by stamping the frame with Versamark on my prepped card stock and then poured gold embossing powder on top. There is a matching die for this shape, but I don’t have it, so I fussy cut it by hand. My Scan ’n Cut didn’t seem to like the lightly colored embossing, so it refused to help me out there, but the shape is easy to cut by hand.

Simple Greeting Card

I stamped the sentiment in black Versafine ink and set it aside to dry. Then I grabbed the floral images from the stamp set and stamped them in various colors so they’d be partially covered by the frame later. Once I was done, I embossed the Wplus9 Sunshine Layers die into the front of the card for addition interest and then used my Stabilo Carbothello chalk pastels to color the outside of the frame.

Simple Greeting Card

You could use a different color medium, or skip this step entirely. I just wanted an additional pop of color and the chalk pastels go on easy, you can blend them nicely, and with one or two spritzes of hairspray it’s fixed and doesn’t smear.

Hope you liked today’s project and look through your stash to find some of those older sets you haven’t shown a lot of love recently.

What a great juxtaposition of the antiquey gold color and the bright modern colors that are hot today. Very cool card.

Very pretty. I’m seeing more and more use these Ranger inks, and why not? They certainly are pretty and bright – perfect for peeking from behind your gold frame! Now about these chalks … Julia you have so many different coloring mediums! and use them all perfectly!

Love to use older sets too..i actually think the releases from most companies are way to much and to soon after each other..especially when you order it from the States..before it arrives here they are already showing the newest released sets…
I also think that when we bought the stamps we loved them so much we needed to have them…but with all the new coming out it is hard to keep up with it all..and use the stamp set often..and often they get not to see any ink…
so I made a promise I first want to use the sets I own now…and use them really good..and not keeping on that crazy roller coaster of needing to by all the new ones…I quite …point made!
