It’s birthday time, crafters! Hard to believe, but Pretty Pink Posh is turning 2 today! I can’t even think of a time before Pretty Pink Posh sequins and dies, so more than anything I am surprised that this wonderful company is just two years old 🙂
To celebrate the occasion, there is a sale going on and there are a ton of prizes to win, amongst them a Big Shot machine, two MISTI’s and more! I of course used a die by Pretty Pink Posh, Scallop Frame, and a few new sequins which were released just this January. I also wanted to use one of my favorite techniques which is coloring on the kraft card stock.
I wanted to keep this card to one layer, which is why I didn’t die cut the frame from the card but rather used my impression plate to emboss it into the card stock. If you find that it cut through nonetheless, just use a piece of the same card stock and adhere it to the inside of your card front to make it all stick together. No one will know from looking at it from the outside 🙂 To accentuate the scalloped edges, I used my white pencil and lightly traced around the frame. It’s very subtle, but it’s just one of those details that can really help to make your card shine.
The coloring itself was done with Polychromos pencils and yes, it took some time. Working with pencils usually requires working in multiple layers, starting with very light pressure and working your way up into burnishing the car into your card stock. You’ll need at least three layers, but often times you can go up to five, six, or more. Coloring with pencils is nothing you will do when you’re short on time 🙂
To accentuate some of the stamped images, I used my white gel pen. The sequins were adhered by using a drop of Glossy Accents which I applied through my fine tip applicator to make sure I didn’t squish out too much glue. That was a bit tricky, considering just how tiny those little iridescent stars are, but it was totally worth the effort. And of course I couldn’t help myself and had to use my Stardust gel pen to add a few more accents.
