Just One More Card

Discovering the world of card making. One Project at a time.

Happy (Birthday) New Year!

January 1, 2016

Hello friends! I hope you all have arrived safely in the new year and I wanted to delight you with a fresh and new card right at the start of this wonderful 2016!

Penny Black "Softly" colored with Copic Markers. Leaves: YG97,G94,YG95,G43. Blues: BG78,BG18,BG72,BG11. Orange: E37,YR09,YR07,YR16,Y17,Y15. Yellows: YR16,Y17,Y13,Y02.

Penny Black “Softly” colored with Copic Markers. Leaves: YG97,G94,YG95,G43. Blues: BG78,BG18,BG72,BG11. Orange: E37,YR09,YR07,YR16,Y17,Y15. Yellows: YR16,Y17,Y13,Y02.

I thought that this birthday card I made last year (well, 2015 🙂 ) was the perfect card to begin the new year we just welcomed. And I needed something else than christmas cards, of which I don’t want to see anything anymore for the next 10 months. For this card, I used a Penny Black cling stamp and colored it with Copic Markers. I was inspired by my crafty friend Sonja Kerkhoffs who made me want this stamp really badly.

Penny Black "Softly" colored with Copic Markers. Leaves: YG97,G94,YG95,G43. Blues: BG78,BG18,BG72,BG11. Orange: E37,YR09,YR07,YR16,Y17,Y15. Yellows: YR16,Y17,Y13,Y02.

Since the friend I sent this to likes, well, darker colors, I decided to challenge her with my bright and happy florals. I added a few dots (yes, that’s for all of you who moan when I don’t add them) with my Copic markers around the flowers; I also added a few white dots on top of the flowers and black dots on the leaves. Of course there had to be some sequins by Pretty Pink Posh to add sparkle.

Minimal Copic Coloring with Penny Black

Since I noticed that my crafty friend (for whom I made this card) often uses small strips of paper or color to accentuate her cards, I did the same and added a small strip of double sided adhesive to the side and poured glitter on top to make it spaaaarkly 🙂

I hope you enjoyed this fresh and colorful start into the new year. May your crafty spirits be strong, your health lasting, your happiness growing, and your dreams fulfilled 🙂

This is so lovely, Julia. I love this stamp — the graceful arch, the simple design. It’s easy to make a beautiful card with it, no?
