I don’t do shaker cards often enough, but today I’m back with a fun one. Mainly because I finally had to use the cute die by Pretty Pink Posh and some of the new sequins. I also wanted to get back to coloring on kraft card stock with my pencils. I had seen so many amazing pieces of art on Instagram that I want to perfect my technique this year. (Okay, maybe not perfect, but at least improve)
I started out by stamping the floral image from Purple Onion Designs with a brown archival ink. I didn’t want the strong contrast of black ink. The coloring was done with my Polychromos pencils in several layers of color. After I was done, I outlined the image with my white gel pen the to add even more contrast.
As the Shaker elements, I selected the new iridescent star sequins by Pretty Pink Posh. They are so tiny that I can fill a lot of them into this small opening and still get a really nice shaker effect. They also don’t cover up the colored image too much.
I also wanted to give the new iridescent Sunshine Glow sequins a go — they’re not completely new to the product line, but they are new to me and I think they just contrast perfectly with the kraft card stock. I rummaged through my Purple Onion Designs sentiment stamps and came up with one from the wine set that is great for a cheerful hello card.
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you have a happy and sparkly day 🙂
