With all the christmas cards I need to prepare right now, I barely find the time to play along with challenges, but it worked out great this time: Challenge Up Your Life is asking for gold and white christmas cards, and since I needed some inspiration for the 17 cards a colleague asked for, this was perfect.
I used the die and stamp set “Hanging Around” by Clearly Besotted Stamps. It’s a mini stamp and die set, but oh, the possibilities! I made a card last year in a very similar style, but the contrast color was red and honestly, I would not have thought of making one with just gold and white. That’s why I love challenges: they inspire me again and again!
I started by die cutting the wreath from Bazzill paper, then stamped the wreath with Delicata Gold ink. It’s the perfect gold ink. Nothing better than Delicata. I mounted it on top of some vellum, which in turn is covering up some gold glitter paper I found in my stash. And of course I stamped the sentiment in gold as well – it actually looks very yummy in real life.
The card was fairly easy to put together and could even be mass produced without too much hassle. I love the warm gold of the Delicata ink, it’s perfectly festive and super elegant. I think that especially older folks, who might not fully appreciate the humor of a Tim Holtz Crazy Bird with a Santa hat, would especially like a card like this 🙂
That’s it for today! Catch ya again tomorrow!
