Hi crafters! I’m back with another card for CAS-ual Fridays. Today, I want to show you how you can enhance plain diecut pieces with just a few simple patterns. I know you have seen me do this before, and I feel that we can stretch our creative abilities quite a bit with something that everybody can be successful with.
As you can see in the video, I’m not doing anything terribly difficult. I’m just using simple lines and patterns to create interest. Which means: YOU CAN DO IT, TOO! All you need for it are a few basic shapes, die cut from different colors of card stock, and a good white gel pen. I picked mine up from a regular supermarket, so it’s nothing fancy or expensive.
The patterns I’m drawing I learned when I was doing a lot of Zendoodling. If you are not familiar with it, either go with whatever comes to mind, or check out Pinterest for inspiration. As you saw in the video, this is nothing that requires special skills. Just a few random lines, and then you get a nice pattern. You can try this with metallic markers, too. The effect would certainly be awesome.
I hope you have enjoyed the video and the tutorial. If you decide to give this technique a try, please let me know in the comments. I would love to see what you create.
I’m sending this card off to Addicted to Stamps and More “Anything Goes” and CAS-ology “You”.

I think you should change your name to “DOT”! I love you card and love the doodling. What a great idea.
What a cool idea, you sure have a knack for card making. Always enjoy your videos Thanks
Love how this turned out. It’s amazing what simple lines and dots can do to make it look so “fancy!”
You not only have signature dots, you are a master doodler, as well. Awesome card. Who knew you could do so much with a white gel pen? Apparently, you.
Love this card. Terrific way to doodle. Don’t think my doodling would turn out as good as your however !!!

Gorgeous doodling! Thought you had used patterned paper or a stamp! Very clever indeed, and a very pretty layout! Thanks so much for sharing your tutorial and for joining us at CASology this week!
When I first saw this I thought it was patterned paper and was going to compliment you on your choices. Now that I know you doodled it all yourself, I have to say “How clever and artistic of you.” The resulting card is outstanding, Julia. I’m so glad you shared this with us at ATSM this week.
Great job, I’ll take that advice and try a bit of doodling. Of course when I do it, I never think it looks as good as everyone elses. But I’m going to give it a try. Thanks!
How cool. I love your doodling! 🙂
Julie, take a bow, JUST flawlessly AMAZING!!! Can’t stop looking at it!!! Thanks for joining us at CASology this week!!!!
