Scary greetings, crafters! With Halloween approaching, I am having a blast using some fun stamps by The Alley Way Stamps. Last week I had a rather cute card, and this week I wanted to continue with the clean and simple Halloween style, but also show you a super simple trick to add the illusion of dimensions to your card without extra bulk.
The “trick”, if you want to call it that, is that by placing a focal image partly inside and partly outside of an opening, you can add more depth and movement to your card. In my case, I have the zombie stepping through the opening, one foot inside and one inside. If I would’ve just adhered him inside or outside, the card would not appear as dynamic as it does now.
With clean and simple card, I have found that it’s also helpful to have an area that is very color intense (my orange background) because if you only have very light colors, the project might look bland and boring – at least my recent attempts at clean and simple cards taught me that lesson. If you are going for an airy style, it might just be what you are looking for, but I love a pop of color.
For some additional interest I die cut a few tiny stars from purple card stock and then added some glossy accents on top of them after adhering them. That makes them shine, but doesn’t distract from the overall clean style of the card.
Last but not least, that sentiment! I mean, doesn’t that have you laugh out loud? I bought the stamp set only for that sentiment, it’s just so … me!
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you had fun and I’d love to hear from you! Have a great day!
