This is my second post today. If you’re here for a sneak of CAS-ual Fridays’ new release, please scroll down!
Welcome again, fellow crafters! Purple Onion Designs doesn’t just have cutesy critter stamps (most of you will probably know the Stacey Yakula line best), and today I want to showcase the big butterfly from the Butterfly set. You get four awesome butterflies in different sizes, ranging from huge to tiny, and the options are sheer endless.
I have to admit, this wasn’t the card that I had originally envisioned, but hey, if there’s one thing we crafters excel at it’s improvisation, ain’t that right? 😉 That’s also what I’m doing when stamping with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. It never gives me the perfect deep black on the first pass, and lining up rubber stamps by hand again and again is almost a loosing battle. So I’m once more using my Letterpress by WRMK to stamp the same image multiple times into the same spot. Perfect positioning, and in the end a deep black impression that will still work fine with my Copics.
Since I knew I would be fussy cutting the butterfly, I stamped it on some heavy card stock because I didn’t want the butterfly to get all wrinkled when I fussy cut it (I am known to not be very gentle 😉 ). Of course I had to add some of my “signature dots” (as you guys call them), this time with a silver gel pen. I selected silver because of my background, which I created with the Letterpress, a plate, and silver ink. I wanted to bring the silver back in again on the butterfly, which I adhered with clear foam tape.
For some additional contrast and to ground the butterfly, I added a strip of purple card stock and heat embossed the sentiment from the Sweet Occasions sentiment mix. For a finishing touch, I sprinkled some sequins by Pretty Pink Posh onto the card, selecting colors which would match the butterfly.
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed the card and the video. See you again soon!
And even though my “white space” has a silver pattern to it, I am still entering this card into the Addicted to Stamps and More “Clean and Simple” challenge. So there 😀
