Hello crafters! It’s Saturday again, and that means a new card for the Make The Day Special Stamp Store blog. Since it’s kind of a dreary outside, I decided to create something bright and cheerful. Out came my Sunshine Layers die set by Wplus9.
Since I am using a die set only, I still needed a sentiment for my card. I found a beautiful one on Pinterest a while ago, and decided that it was just perfect for my project today. I printed it on Neenah Solar White card stock and even didn’t make it completely black, but just a dark gray. I felt it matched the overall theme of my card better this way.
Die cutting the rainbow was easy, but die cutting the raindrops took a while. Good thing the set comes with two raindrop dies. That made it a little bit faster.
For the background, you can use any color mediums you like. I decided to go with water color, but you can use Copics or whatever else you fancy. Honestly, though, I just needed a reason to play with my Inktense pencils. I roughly divided my piece of watercolor card stock into different sections to make sure I could fit in all the colors I wanted. As you can see in the video, it took two layers to get the intensity that I needed, but that was done rather quickly.
And then it was just a matter of glue: I used my ATG to adhere the front panel and the water color card stock together, and then used a strip of double-sided adhesive tape to make sure that the rainbow would stick to the front panel, and then a whole bunch of tiny foam pads to give it a little bit of the dimension.
And of course I had to add some Sparkling Clear sequins by Pretty Pink Posh at the very end. I used the 4 mm size so they would only complement the card, and not overpower the rest of the elements.
