Hello crafty friends! Since I’m usually all over the place with different stamps and dies on one single card, I challenged myself to only use one set for this card I made for the Make The Day Special Stamp Store.
I also wanted to experiment with pastel colors. I always gaze longingly at projects that perfectly combine muted colors for a great card. It usually doesn’t work for me, and I end up with very bright and intense colors. But I think today, I did good 🙂
I am using the Wplus9 Papel Picado stamps and dies. At first glance, it might not be immediately clear how to use them best. But I found that they work especially well when used with good color combinations or as a background. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you have seen me use the stamps in many different ways.
This card is a birthday card for a guy, so I stayed away from everything that sparkles or could be considered female colors. And the blue with the light orange and yellow has a wonderful retro feel that I like. I had actually wanted to put a “happy birthday” die cut on top of the middle circle. But I simply didn’t have a die for that 🙂 If you do, you should try that out. I think especially with the inlay die cutting technique, this would look really awesome.
The only indulgence that I allowed myself on this card was the pattern paper that peeks out behind the front of the card. You can see in the video how I did that. I’ve also used the same technique on this card.
I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s project. I’m sending it off to the following challenges:
Have a wonderful weekend, and thanks for stopping by or leaving a comment!
