Hi, crafters. Today I have a fun card for you using the new(ish) clear stamp set “Heavy Friends” by Gerda Steiner Designs. You’ve already seen me using the happy little elephant from the set on this card and today I’m using the whale. I combined several different products on this card:
First, I colored the whale with my Inktense pencils. I love that they give me a watercolor look, but allow me to have much more control over what I’m doing. With a silver gel pen, I added some dots in different sizes to make the fella look more interesting. I fussy cut him, which is pretty easy with his shape.
On a piece of watercolor card stock I used my Kuretake Gansai watercolors (you can use any watercolors you have) to create a “sea” like background, then die cut a few pieces of vellum with a circle die and the Lawn Fawn stitched scalloped borders to create “waves”.
Last but not least I used a new sentiment stamp by The AlleyWay Stamps to create the sentiment. I inked it up with two different ink colors and did some partial masking to be able to stamp it in different colors. Then I sprinkled some Judikins sparkling embossing powder on it to give it some shimmer. And of course I had to use a few gems and rhinestones to create the fountain on top of the whale 🙂
I hope you enjoyed the card. I’m sending it off to the following challenges: Challenge Up Your Life “Watercolor”; SSS “Create Your Own Background” and of course Virginia’s View “Add Layers and Dimension”.
