I’m a little late with my Valentine’s treat post, but my colleagues are receiving these goodie bags only today and since some of them stalk me on social media, I didn’t want to spoil the surprise for them. Continuing with my slight disgruntlement over the celebration of love and loved ones (yes, that happens when you are single), I didn’t make anything cutesy, but instead grabbed a fun digi stamp set titled Love Lil’ Grumpies and colored them up.
I used the Lawn Fawn favorite goodie bag die to create the bags from simple kraft packing paper. It comes on a huge roll and is meant for actual packages, but it’s so nice and thin yet durable that I could create the bags easily from it. Love the subtle pattern on the paper, just an unexpected extra.
After printing and coloring the digis, I die cut them with a circle die, then glued them onto a scalloped circle of red card stock. Since the red looked bit plain, I stamped it with a DeNami Design pattern stamp and Delicata silver ink. Score! Not so plain anymore. This embellishment went onto the goodie bag with a foam square – done! (Coloring actually took quite a while.)
And here’s a peek inside the goodie bag. I used a white paper napkin to make the bags looks nicer, but sheesh, that was difficult to make it look decent when it sticks out the top. On the upside, it stuffs the bag a bit, so I got away with the few sweets I had and didn’t need to run buy more 😉
And here’s a special treat: I shared on my Instagram account that I finally got my hands on the new Tim Holtz Bird Crazy stamp set and I immediately played with it a bit and it turned out so well I wanted to use that bird on something. As it happens, one of my colleagues had his birthday a week ago and so I thought this would make a fun treat for him.
I added the little “mouth” to the bird and the little lines around the eyes and the tail to give the bird even more of a “surprised” or “bristling” look … couldn’t help myself. The sentiment is from Create A Smile’s Monster Party set and the speech bubble from Lawn Fawn.
I’m sending this card off to the following challenges: CASology “Love”; Addicted to Stamps and More Anything Goes; Simon Says Creatures Great and Small; and Creative Friday All You Need is Love. And I might just sneak it into House of Cards LOVE as well 😉
