Make room! Out of the way! This is a last second entry to Virginia’s View Shaker card challenge! Phew, made it, just in time. Let’s take a breath and have a look at some photos and the video I created for this card.
Little reminder: There will be another video and a giveaway tomorrow here with amazing prizes. Watch this space or subscribe to updates so you won’t miss out!
Virginia’s challenge is one of my favorites. Not only because the topics are usually really easy to work with, but because Virginia takes so much time to leave absolutely wonderful, heartfelt comments on the blogs of the participants. Being on DT’s myself, I know that commenting can become overwhelming and time consuming, so I’m incredibly grateful for the time she takes. So, let’s have a look at why created, shall we?
With her current challenge, Virginia mentioned one of my cards as an example for good shaker cards and put me into the company of Jennifer McGuire, Kristina Werner, and Nichol Magouirk … I almost fainted when I saw that. And of course I felt I had to live up to the expectations and started beat myself up, trying to come with the most brilliant card. Almost two weeks and no card later I decided to do what every crafter should do: just have fun and play and see what happens.
I find, to my surprise, that the Cosmic Stars stamp set is super versatile and can be used for all kinds of cards, not just birthdays as I had thought at first. And that zebra stamp – oh, I see a bright future ahead of it. I actually got it from the Jennifer McGuire. She had a giveaway on Instagram a while ago and my friend and I were some of the few lucky people who received a goodie package from Jennifer. SO very grateful!
I also love her idea with putting lots of fun foam behind a panel to give shaker cards more stability and the necessary dimension. It enables me to work with 80lbs Neenah paper, which would otherwise be too flimsy. But with foam backing, it’s wonderful! Now, if I wouldn’t forget to stamp my front panel before adhering it to the actual card … I will never learn that, really.
For the actual shaker, I’m using both sequins and seed beads by Pretty Pink Posh. Paulina’s embellishments are my absolutely favorite and the seed beads are perfect for shakers. Also, because I foam mounted the little fishes, they make the beads go around them, like water flowing around them. I was giddy that this worked out so well 🙂
I’m sending this card off to the following challenges: Virginia’s View (obviously); Simon Says who asks for Creatures Great and Small.
Thanks for stopping by and KEEP AN EYE ON THIS SPACE FOR A GIVEAWAY OF AMAZING PRIZES TOMORROW!
Update: Woot! My card was not just picked as a feature by Virginia’s View Challenge, it also won me a SSS coupon! YEAH!
so ein schönes Shaker-Kärtchen – wirklich toll geworden
Well, very well deserved, Julia! Both of your shaker cards are wonderful, in particular I like this latter one since your shaker materials really looks like air bubbles in the water. Very clever idea!
I love how this turned out…so cute. And I have a bad habit of stamping on top layer after I’ve added the foam! LOL

That is the cutest card ever! Brilliant idea to use the die for a fishbowl. Your cards are fabulous and I love your videos.
Oh your card is so great! I love your videos – we share the same bad habbits, I always forget to decorate the front panell… and then the stamp smears – but your card is perfect!
It’s so much fun to watch you get creative and I know this sounds creepy, but it’s very inspiring and relaxing.
And these little beads – wow! And yes, since the angora buddy is living here I know a lot of stories about hair everywhere…
Hugs,
Jessa
