Let’s be goofy today! No, seriously, let’s just have fun. I won’t be sharing a new “technique” today, but I’d rather show you some more Copic coloring in my video (you guys keep asking for it, so here it is) and an absolutely adorable owl digi stamp by Gerda Steiner.
At first, when my fellow design team members asked for an owl for the November challenge**, I honestly wondered why they were so keen on this bird, but when I saw Gerda’s interpretation I literally burst out in laughter – leave it to her to come up with the most hilarious owl I’ve ever seen 🙂 So this is a purely fun card, nothing terribly exciting and new in regards to techniques shared, but sometimes it’s good to craft just for fun, right?
I borrowed the idea of sponging around the digi stamp from my DT colleague Jess Moyer – if you haven’t checked out her YouTube channel, you’ve missed out. She’s amazing! With a stencil, I added a few snowflakes (regular stamps would work just as well) and a die cut cloud, which I 3D mounted to add some dimension.
And I know that the sentiment, pieced together with Lawn Fawn’s Milos ABC, is crooked, but with this owl, I feel that’s ok. I imagine the little guy sitting grumpily on a branch, teeth chattering, waiting to hand off his present at someone’s door to be invited in … Seriously, I keep getting the giggles when I look at him.
**A word about the Gerda Steiner monthly challenge: it’s a continuous challenge. If you buy this digi in her shop and participate in the challenge, you get next month’s challenge image for free! And if you participate in the next challenge, you get the next digi free again. If you love coloring images, this is an incredible deal!
I hope you’ll give this little guy a spin – he’s definitely worth some of your time and ink. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
I’m also entering this card into the MarkerPOP Challenge #55 Anything Goes.
