You know those digi images that you have somewhere on your hard drive? The ones that you’d love to use, but you don’t really want to fuzzy cut or don’t know how to combine for a scene? I have three examples for you today, showing you how to create smashing holiday cards with brand-new Gerda Steiner Designs christmas images. I’ve used the digital version, but you can also get them as super quality rubber stamps.
I didn’t show the coloring (forgot to turn on the camera, sorry!) but I’m showing how to put together your colored images to create fun and easy cards. Apart from the coloring, these are all easy to mass produce and send to your friends and family for the holidays.
Stacks of Presents
In this card I used the Penguin Digi Stamp collection. I placed the Penguins among the gifts and scaled them accordingly. By putting some images further back than others, you can create the illusion of dimension. I finished up the card by adding white embossing paste in a messy way at the bottom of the colored piece, then sprinkling it with Rock Candy dry distress stickles to create the illusion of snow.
If you have an image that can perfectly stand on its own, just use it by itself and go for a CAS card as I did with this super cute Hippo in a t-shirt. It’s fast to finish and mass produce. The longest time was spent waiting for the embossing paste to dry, but in the meantime, I finished the two other cards, so I didn’t waste any time. Also, note that I stamped the card base to add some additional interest.
Deck the Tree
This one is a pure fun card. When I saw the dancing penguin and the stack of presents, a light immediately went on in my head and I saw him balancing on top of the presents to finish decorating the tree 🙂 With the digi stamps, it’s super easy to scale them to size and create this little scene and I’m using the same stamps as in the first card – you see, you have many options here.
Tell me which card you like best and I’ll send it to you!
And now for something special: Let me know in the comments which card you like best and I will mail it to you for christmas! I’ll draw three winners from all of the comments, announce them on the blog next week Thursday! All you need to do is leave me a comment, subscribe to my blog to make sure you won’t miss the announcement, and then get in touch with me via the contact form to let me know your address and you’ll have mail.
