Between all the projects I’m currently doing for my Design Teams, I’m happy to find some time to do “fun projects”. Those are the ones that need not to be recorded, where I experiment and craft without rhyme or reason.
I’m super excited about the upcoming Copics for Cardmakers class because I love coloring – always did as a kid, then lost interest for more than a decade because I had no clue about techniques and was unhappy with my results. Thanks to the excellent and free resources in the crafting community, I’m finding my way back to coloring with pens and I’m having a helluva lot of fun 🙂
Originally, this little dragon from EUREKA! Stamps was meant to be a practice image, but after I colored him, I just had to use him on a card. I’m still struggling a lot when it comes to determine highlight and shadow areas, which you can see clearly on his tail. I put some shadows where there should be highlights, but hey: I can only get better! 🙂
The current Marker POP! challenge calls for GREENS, so that went well with my little monster here (using G40, G43, and G46). I also used some Wink of Stella markers to add shimmery accents to his scales, toenails and the cake and candle.
I fuzzy cut the dragon from my practice sheet and popped him on foam tape, the mounted the panel on top of him (2 layers of foam tape). The window was cut with my recent acquisition, the pinking square dies from Wplus9. The sentiment is from Mama Elephant’s “Carnival Toppers” stamp set.
And yes, I know it says cupcake. But he’s a dinosaur! Of course his cupcakes would be bigger and maybe look more like a cake. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by! I’m entering this card into the MarkerPOP challenge.
