All I wanted to do was leave some comments on a few favorite blogs, but everyone seems to be in the fall mood right now so I couldn’t resist. I saw two challenges that inspired me to digg out one of my all time favorite Lawn Fawn die sets and create an autumn themed card.
Last year, when I used these leave dies for the first time, I had such a blast and sponging them with Distress Ink … a crafter’s happy place. Well, mine at least. I absolutely love this season, everything turns super colorful for a few weeks, the temperatures go down and the promise of mulled wine lurks around the corner. After the sweltering months of summer, I really long for fall.
The leaf and the scalloped background are mounted on foam squares each to give the card some dimension. I loved combining the Scalloped Circles by Lawn Fawn with the regular circles from Sizzix. It’s such an easy thing to do (mounting the circle on top of the scalloped one) and it looks almost like some of those cards you can buy. Neat effect, need to use it more often.
Originally, I had only wanted to stamp the sentiment from Altenew on the bottom of the card, but it would have looked kind of empty. So instead I cut two slits with my craft knife and fought a bit (or a lot) with some twine. I just love the effect of this twine (might be SU) because it feathers so much. For me, it conjures up the image of hay, all around a farm in the fall.
That’s it from me for today! I was inspired by the sketch from The Friday Mashup (I literally saw the sketch and then this card popped into my mind; I normally don’t do literal interpretations, but this was just too tempting) and by the colors from the Cutting Edge challenge.
