I just can’t help myself, the new Persian Motifs stamp set by Altenew has me hooked. Just last weekend I did another card with watercoloring and the same stamps, but I wasn’t too happy with the results so I kept looking for other ways to use the stamps. For some reason, suddenly the idea of gold embossing popped into my head and I was delighted to find the Addicted To CAS challenge which asks for “gold” on your project. Woot!
These are small notecards, measuring 4×4 inches, and the front panel is 3.5×3.5 inches. I used Bazzill Marshmallow Card Shoppe card stock (I can only get it in the UK, no one stocks that in Germany) because it’s a very creamy white and very thick. I feel that for CAS cards, you need to use good supplies, otherwise it will show. There’s nothing that can hide sloppy work or too thin paper, because you card is, well, clean and simple.
Now, the most difficult thing is to stop. To not add tons of embellishment, additional images, or even colors to a card. I’ve worked as designer for several years, so I should know better, but I still struggle with white space. But with this card set, I’m super happy. I think I got it exactly right (not often that I am truly happy with my work, but I just want to cuddle with these cards 😉 ).
For once, I managed to turn the mental image into a card, exactly as envisioned. I just love the glimmer from the gold embossing. Usually not a fan of gold, I think it lends this card the perfect amount of elegance and still retains the simplicity of the design. It’s a bit hard to see, but the sentiment was coated with a Wink of Stella clear bush, and it sparkles magnificently in real life.
Of course I couldn’t help myself and had to create matching envelopes. I used the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch board and in the video, I explain how to use it to create your own envelopes. Because colored envelopes are rather expensive I prefer buying cheap paper and doing them myself. That also allows me to have envelopes in various colors. Haven’t gotten any colorful mail in my life, but I imagine the recipients being curious and overjoyed when they pull out a purple or yellow or green envelope from the mailbox.
Hope you enjoyed the cards and the video! If you like, please leave me a thumbs up over at YouTube or subscribe to my blog and/or channel. I have a lot more awesome videos and cards coming up, so I will make it worth your while 🙂
I’m entering this card set into the Addicted To CAS #44 “Gold” challenge.
