Hello crafty friends! Another week, another post for the Colour Me…! challenge blog for which I am honored to be on the Design Team. I still can’t believe that I was asked to participate. To let ya’ll in on a little secret: I kept re-reading the email that Hayley sent me, and when I replied to her, first thing I did was apologize in case I had somehow imagined her message and she hadn’t in fact meant to bring on the team haha Turns out, I wasn’t dreaming and so here I am, with my second card in my 6-month term on the design team:
Today is all about creating a quick and easy card with any kind of floral stamps you might have on hand. This week’s challenge, Colour Me…! #28 Monochromatic, invites you to use two colors: Soft Sky and Elegant Eggplant. If you are like me and don’t own any SU inks, you can substitute with whatever colors you have that come closest. For some ideas and matches, check out this post here where I compare several different ink brands (Hero Arts, Versafine, Avery Elle, Memento Luxe, and more) with Stampin Up colors.
I love the color combination, but I also enjoyed using the wood pattern stamp by Hero Arts on the card base. You can hardly see it, but I feel that those teeny tiny details make a card special.
For this card, I wanted to make the sentiment stand out, so I stamped it in the dark Versafine ink (Versafine Imperial Purple), then added the water blooms (flowers) all around. The stamp set by Mama Elephant makes it so easy, but you can use any small(ish) flower stamps you have to create such a pattern. I think that these two colors would look splendid with some of the building stamp sets where you stamp the first layer of the flower in the light ink and then the detailed pattern in the darker ink.
I hope you got inspired to join us over at Colour Me…! – can’t wait to see what you guys come up with! Thanks so much for stopping by.
