Hello and welcome to another week at the Colour Me…! challenge. With today’s inspiration card for the challenge I tried to do something new (it’s about challenging ourselves, after all) with the styles I used.
I’ve seen quite a few cards around that have a front panel that doesn’t cover the entire card front and some sort of pattern underneath it. I’ve been dying to finally use my Clearly Besotted Diagonal Stripes stamps and this was the perfect opportunity. Looking at the finished card, I might have made that left side with the stripes a bit more narrow, though. But overall, I like how the red background is also reflected in the fuzzy cut red flowers.
I was surprised how fiddly it was to cut the banner to a fishtail. I always thought that I was good at eyeballing this, but I ended up cutting one banner way to short because I kept fiddling with the angle of the fishtail. Next time, I’ll use a ruler 😉
But I loved the overall effect of the subtle layers and how the fuzzy cut flowers were raised from the panel (3D mounted). And the Pretty Pink Posh sequins were the perfect embellishment, not just because of the very subtle sparkle (they have a matte finish) but because they add some more of the super light yellow color in which the main floral element was stamped.
Finally, I added some more of the floral elements on the inside of the card to tie everything together, but I only used two colors to not make it as “in your face” and keep the focus on the message which the sender will add.
Hope you enjoyed today’s card and I look forward to see what you make of this color combo over at Colour Me…!.
