When it comes to watercoloring, one of my biggest inspirations is Dawn from Wplus9. Her use of stamps to create stunning watercolor images is just amazing and when the Sweet Havana set by Mama Elephant was released, I immediately thought of her and wanted to copy her technique. Granted, I still have a long way to go, but it’s fun and I’ll keep practicing.
I created this card for a friend last week, but didn’t want to spoil the surprise for her, so I held off on sharing it 😉
I used my Distress Markers to ink up the stamps partially, then watercolored it by blending the stamped images and adding finishing touches here and there. Funnily enough, in the meantime Nichol Magouirk has also created cards with the same stamp set and she also credits Dawn as her inspiration. It’s like a watercolor Inception 😉 (sorry, couldn’t help the movie reference, haha). Go and watch both Nichol’s and Dawn’s videos, they are so helpful when trying this technique.
For finishing up the card, I used my stitched Oval dies by Lil’ Inker and the bigger of the Femme Frames dies by Mama Elephant. And of course the super adorable banner by Avery Elle (been dying to finally use that).
