I usually shy away from complex inspiration photos like the one in the current Just Add Ink challenge, but this time the patterns and colors just drew me in and I gave it a go. My first attempt with embossed chevron patterns was a complete failure, so I went with dots instead.
After I had embossed the background and was preparing to put the card together, I realized that the golden dots were pretty overpowering. So I employed a technique I have seen Nichol Magouirk use countless times: layer a piece of vellum on top of your background to mute it. And it works 🙂
I drew the shape of the label on top of the vellum to make it stand out more and then embossed on top of it, purposefully breaking the boundaries of the label – it gives it more dimension. The flowers were die cut and stamped and adhered with glue dots. And done.
