Today I’m back with another card made for my Online Card Classes course; I made this last week before a cold struck me down, but only found the energy to post this now.
The trick here is to use a masking fluid (I’m using Winsor & Newton Masking Fluid) to prevent certain areas of the card to be colored over. Once you’re done, you rub off the dried mask and voila:
I didn’t take too much care not to go outside the lines when I masked off the feathers, but I feel that this gives the card just some additional charme.
After pulling up the mask, some of the ink was also removed so the feathers looked a bit more grey than black. With a black Wink of Stella Marker, I went over the feathers and traced everything that was black, adding the depth and also some shimmer.
The finishing touch were the four sequins by Pretty Pink Posh after I mounted the watercolor panel to some navy card stock.
- Tim Holtz Watercolor Paper
- Wplus9 Fancy Feathers
- Cotman Watercolors
- Pretty Pink Posh sequins
- Versamark Onyx ink
- Winsor & Newton Masking Fluid
- Wink of Stella black marker
I’ll be entering this card into Keep It Simple #39 “Watercolor” challenge.
