While waiting for some supplies to arrive so I can continue with my Online Card Class homework, I’ve tried to create a super soft background with watercolors to create a scene on. I used the colors from the current Make The Day Special challenge (color choice 1) and blended them together:
For the background, I used a wide brush and took it directly to my Distress Ink Pads, then to the paper (which I had moistened before I applied the color – it helps with the blending). After the background was dry, I stamped the deer and butterfly and colored them in with Distress Markers, then blended the colors with a wet brush.
Unfortunately, the color from the deer seeped into the background … I’ll have to experiment a bit more to figure out how to prevent that from happening. But I loved the little grass stamp included in the Storybook stamp set – it help so much in creating a scene.
I wanted a very bold sentiment, since the entire card is rather soft and gentle, so I reached for my new Mama Elephant stamps. I heat embossed the sentiment with Ranger Liquid Platinum, which is just such a gorgeous color.
I also used the bubble stamp from the Storybook stamp set and stamped it with Distress Ink directly onto the background. With a moist brush, I softened the outlines of the bubbles.
As a final touch, I added Liquid Pearls to the bubbles to give the card some more shine, then glued the water card panel to some yellow Stampin Up card stock.
