I spent one year in the US and I’m notoriously bad with keeping in touch with my friends and host family. Card making, in my opinion, is the perfect way to stay in touch and showing appreciation for the people who are dear to me.
My host “aunt” has a birthday coming up and I decided to combine her card with the Colors and Sketches‘ current challenge (#47), which is a color challenge and the colors are perfect for a female card: Pink Pirouette, Red Rose, Early Espresso.
Obviously, I was totally inspired by DT member Karen’s design and I’m quite happy about how my card turned out:
I masked off the circle in the middle and stamped the ballons from the Clearly Besotted Make A Wish stamp set all around, using Hero Arts Raspberry Jam and Soft Blossom Shadow Inks. Since I don’t have the Stampin’ Up colors, these are the closest I could get to the requested Pink and Rose.
The same Avery Elle stamp set was used for the sentiment, which was stamped in Hero Arts Cup o’ Joe Shadow ink, my equivalent of the espresso color for the challenge.
At the end, I also used the Simon Says Stamp Curved Edge die to cut the front of the card and adhered the cut off piece to the inside of the card, making for a nice surprise when you open the card for the first time.
